What stays on your phone
Camera. The app analyses camera frames on your phone to count reps and check position. Frames are not recorded, not stored and not sent anywhere. The pose-detection model runs entirely on the device.
Debug mode. Settings has an optional switch for testers. With it on, the app records each set on your phone so a miscounted set can be investigated. A recording is kept only if you tap "Flag this set", and then it's saved to your Photos and the app's folder in Files. It is never sent anywhere by the app; whether to share it is up to you.
Your activity. Your sets, reps, wallet balance, history and settings are stored in the app on your phone. There is no server and no iCloud sync. Settings › Your data exports all of it as a file. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Screen Time. Locking apps works through Apple's Screen Time system. The app receives only anonymous tokens for the apps you pick, and cannot tell which apps they are.
Notifications. Reminders (such as the Sunday recap) are created on your phone. We don't run a notification server.
What leaves your phone
1Usage statistics, only with your consent
After setup, the app asks whether you want to share usage statistics. If you say no, nothing is sent and our analytics provider is never contacted.
If you say yes, the app sends short event records such as "a squat set ended, 10–19 reps", "onboarding step 3 reached" or "a 15-minute session started". Values are categories and ranges, never free text. Events are linked to a random ID created on your phone. It is not linked to your name, email address, Apple ID or advertising ID.
Never sent: anything the camera sees, which apps you lock, your name or contact details, your location.
- Provider
- PostHog, Inc., acting on our behalf under its data processing agreement. Data is stored on PostHog's EU servers in Frankfurt, Germany. Where PostHog accesses data from outside the EU, this is covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- IP address
- PostHog does not store your IP address and does not derive your location from it.
- Kept for
- 12 months, then deleted.
- Legal basis
- Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; §25(1) TDDDG for storing the random ID on your device).
- Changing your mind
- Settings › Your data › Share usage stats. Turning it off stops all sending immediately and deletes the random ID from your phone.
2Licence check (QuickPose)
The rep counting uses a pose-detection library from Sliced Backhand Ltd (QuickPose), United Kingdom. When the app starts, the library contacts QuickPose's server to check the app's licence. According to QuickPose's privacy policy, this transmits a device identifier, the device type and model, usage and error logs, and your IP address. No camera images and no pose data are sent.
- Their role
- QuickPose processes this data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy, which also lists its own purposes and retention: quickpose.ai/privacy-policy
- Where
- Processed in the United Kingdom, which the EU recognises as providing adequate data protection; QuickPose states it uses the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers elsewhere.
- Legal basis
- For the app making this connection: our legitimate interest in running the licensed software that counts your reps (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
3Apple
Downloads, TestFlight and crash reports (only if you allow "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings) are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We see aggregated statistics and, during the beta, the feedback you choose to send through TestFlight.
4If you email us
We use your email address and message only to reply, and delete the conversation after 12 months.
- Legal basis
- Our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting anything that happened before.
Most of this works directly in the app, since we hold no account for you:
- Export: Settings › Your data
- Stop usage statistics: Settings › Your data › Share usage stats
- Delete everything on the phone: delete the app
For usage statistics already sent, or any other request, email privacy@screenwallet.app.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, datenschutz-berlin.de.
Children
Screen Wallet is suitable for all ages. Usage statistics are only for people aged 16 or over. If you're younger, please ask a parent before saying yes; the app asks the question with this reminder.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
